Before completing these instructions, make sure
your computer is operating |
1.) Open Netscape.
2.) If a Set-up Wizard does not appear, go to the top of the Netscape window, click on Mail and Newsgroups.
3.) In the Netscape Mail window, go to the File menu at the top of the window and select New>Account.
4.) The first screen to appear is the New Account Setup. In this screen, select Email account then click Next (sample screen below).
5.) In the next screen Identity, complete the following (sample screen below):
Your Name field - enter your
Real Name.
E-mail Address - enter your e-mail address (all lowercase
characters with no spaces).
After completing these steps, click Next.
6.) In the next screen Server Information, complete the following (sample screen below):
Select the type of incoming server
you are using - select POP.
Incoming Address - enter mail.cvc.net (all lowercase
characters with no spaces).
After completing these steps, click Next.
7.) In the User Names screen,
Incoming User Name field, enter your e-mail username (do not
enter the e-mail address).
After entering your username, click Next (sample screen below).
8.) In the Account Name screen,
enter your e-mail address (all lowercase characters with no
spaces).
After entering your e-mail address, click Next (sample screen
below).
9.) In the last set-up screen Congratulations!, click the Finish button.
To verify that Netscape is properly set for CVC Internet e-mail, please complete the following steps.
10.) Open Netscape Mail.
11.) At the top of the Netscape Mail window, click on the Edit menu and select Preferences.
12.) In the Preferences window, Category screen (left-hand side of the Preferences window), double-click on Mail and Newsgroups to open a drop-down menu with more setting options.
13.) Under the Mail and Newsgroups setting, click on Offline and Disk Space.
14.) In the Offline and Disk Space screen, the following settings should be selected (sample screen below):
- When starting up - Remember previous online state should be selected.
- When going online - Ask me if I want to send my unsent messages should be selected.
- When going offline - Ask me if I want to download messages for offline use should be selected.
15.) At the bottom of the Preference window, click the OK button.
16.) At the top of the Netscape Mail window, click on the Edit menu and select Mail and Newsgroup Accounts Settings.
17.) In the Mail and Newsgroups window, the first screen to appear is Account Settings. In this screen, check the following settings (sample screen shown below):
18.) In the Account Settings window, Category menu (left-hand side of the Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings window), click on your username to open a drop-down menu with more setting options.
19.) Under your username, click on Server Settings. In the Server Settings screen, check the following settings (sample screen below):
20.) Go back to the Category screen (left-hand side of the Account Settings window) and click on Outgoing Server (SMTP).
21.) In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) screen, check the following settings:
22.) At the bottom of the Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings window, click the OK button.
23.) To make sure Netscape Mail is working properly with your CVC Internet settings, please complete an e-mail test to yourself. To complete a mail test, click on the Compose button (in the Netscape Mail window) to open a new message window, then address the e-mail with your e-mail address, and type Mail Test in the Subject field. After you have addressed the message, click the Send button. Shortly after clicking the Send button, click on the Get Messages button. If your mail test was received successfully, your Netscape Mail program is properly set. If the mail test did not send or receive successfully, please contact CVC Internet at (541) 884-5488.
